The Rehearsal Dinner

Since the rehearsal dinner is not technically “my show,” I haven’t said too much about it on here. But I ran across some photos today that made me think about it, so I thought I’d share.

As of right now, T’s mom is leaning toward having the rehearsal dinner at a local Mexican restaurant (a suggestion from her sister, our pastor’s wife). This is perfectly fine with the two of us — a group of us go to this restaurant almost every week after church, so it’s definitely something that all of our guests will enjoy.

Again, not my party to plan, but if it were, this is what inspired me today:

Papel picado banners from here or here.

The decor in the restaurant is very fun, with brightly colored furniture hand-made in Mexico, so the white paper banners would add another level of festive! Since the restaurant in Milford is new, I couldn’t find any pictures, but the background of this photo from their Dover branch should give you an idea…

Since we’ll have a good number of people at the rehearsal, we’ll probably end up needing a seating chart and place cards. I would love to incorporate a nod to our Southern heritage (T grew up in Louisana and I spent a lot of my childhood in the South, with extended family from Alabama) by using mini bottles of hot sauce and bags of pralines as the escort cards.

I wouldn’t want to detract from the restaurant decor by trying to add too much, but pots of cheerful mums or geraniums and jars of Mexican wedding cookies would be an appropriate addition:

Just thoughts…
