The Sunny State of Denial

Today I am feeling a certain level of cheerful insouciance about the wedding. I think I’m in denial, but I’m just going to enjoy it while it lasts. For lack of anyone else to blame, I’ve decided it’s Meg’s “fault” for posting this Chicago wedding in which the bride told the caterers — no joke — that she didn’t care what linens they used, and let the bakery pick what kind of pies to make for the reception. And they still managed to get married. Wonder of wonders. (me? sarcastic? no…)

As Drea (the bride) said, that kind of wedding isn’t for everyone. And in moments of honesty, I know it isn’t for me. But the reminder that there are people out there who get married without stress? Both comforting and inspiring.

I’m sure I’ll return to being my usual bundle of nerves later, but for now, I seem to have found my happy wedding place. I think I’ll hang out here for a while.
