Shifting the Mood

No, I’m not talking about my mood swings, although those are definitely more pronounced since I started planning this wedding!

I originally thought that our colors would be sprinkled throughout the wedding — most things would have at least a touch of the three. However, as I talked about in my post on flowers, since I’ve fallen in love with stock for the girls, I’m thinking about keeping the colors, but changing the balance between ceremony and reception to shift the mood.

For the ceremony, I want charcoal and ivory to be the dominant colors, with a more classic feel, like this great image from Toast & Tables:

For the reception, I want to shift to a jazzy feel — still keeping the vintage touches throughout, but making the red predominant, with ivory and charcoal accents. And LOTS and LOTS of candles. I’m loving this shot, courtesy of Project Wedding:

I want to use classical music and light jazz for the ceremony, and then shift to a livelier big band/jazz/swing playlist for the reception.

If only we could figure out where this upbeat, jazzy reception is going to be!
